Let Yourself Be Loved Deluxe (Motown Records)
With her Motown debut "Let Yourself Be Loved" Joy Denalane has presented her preliminary masterpiece. Now a deluxe version of the top five album is being released, which has it all: With five new songs and a lovingly designed 7-inch box, the "Let Yourself Be Loved" story is only really getting started!
With “Let Yourself Be Loved” Joy Denalane has fulfilled a dream. The singer has always wanted to record a classic soul album. Joy finally realized this vision with producer Roberto Di Gioia: "Let Yourself Be Loved" was released on September 4th, 2020. The first album by a German artist on the legendary soul label Motown was an artistic and commercial triumph.
Almost a year after the release, a deluxe version of the classic is now available. For this occasion, Joy Denalane came up with something special: The delicacy of the “Let Yourself Be Loved Deluxe” edition is the box set with eight 7 “vinyl singles, the cover art of which was created exclusively by illustrator Diana Ejaita - Ejaitas iconic works are known from "The New Yorker" and "New York Times", among others. As a »New Yorker« subscriber, Joy has long been a fan of the illustrator, who brings together tradition and modernity in an intercultural dialogue. "We have different stories, but there are also many parallels," says Joy Denalane of Diana Ejaita, whom she got to meet personally through acquaintances.
And because Joy's music functions not least as a soundtrack to the lifestyle of Afropian communities, which Diana Ejaita in turn gets to the point with her illustrations, the two are now unceremoniously together: A merchandise collection designed by Ejaita and Denalane in cooperation with the fashion label Souvenir will soon be released, which is loosely inspired towards motifs from Joy’s life.
